The start of 2025 has been a busy time for Brooke Buckland, which managed PR for a host of local and international events.
The year kicked off in early January with the media launch of the Cape Town Carnival, which celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2025. The media launch and Carnival Workshop Tour (in February) gave journalists and select guests an early look at the magic of the Carnival ahead of March’s main parade.
The Cape Town Carnival, hosted on 15 March on the Green Point Fan Walk, was a resounding success and featured some special guests, including Rio’s Carnival Queen Erika Januza and fan favourites the DHL Stormers.
We were also kept busy with The Cape 1000, a grand touring regularity vehicle rally, featuring some of South Africa’s most unique and rarest cars. Our involvement also included managing a unique activation featuring a race between para-athlete Brandon Beack and a Ferrari at Killarney Raceway to highlight the event’s charitable partners.
There was a strong green theme to the events we worked on, with Africa’s Green Economy Summit highlighting the incredible potential of the green economy on the continent. The end of February also saw the arrival of La Croisière Verte, which completed its four-month voyage in solar-powered Citroëns that began in Morocco in late 2024.
Only a few weeks ago, we turned our attention to the world of freeride mountain biking, as some of the world’s best riders headed to Stellenbosch for the ninth edition of Darkfest. On behalf of Monster Energy, Brooke Buckland handled the PR for the annual freeride frenzy hosted at Hellsend Dirt Compound from 7-12 April.
